“A Recipe has no soul, you as the cook must bring the soul to the recipe.
-Thomas Keller”
Hi, my friend, my name is Erica and welcome to my site!
I am excited to share a passion of mine with you that has developed over the past few years.
Growing up my parents always had a knack for cooking, although they were much different.
My mom can make delicious meals out of whatever she finds in the fridge. I'd watch her just toss food items together in the skillet or crock pot with no measurements and it always came out like a recipe from a cook book. Even though she made it look effortless, I know she knew what she was doing.
My Dad on the other hand has a more systematic approach to cooking. Watching him I got a sense that there is a right way and a wrong way to do things. For example, if you're going to have any kind of bread involved at all, it has to be buttered and baked to achieve the perfect amount of crisp.
Lucky enough to have awesome tasting hot dogs produced locally from old school Germans, the tradition of cooking dogs on any given summer afternoon was born.
The family summer cottage sits right on the water in the 1000 Islands, NY, providing a great backdrop. I can't remember who plopped the first dog on the railing but from there The Deck Dogs were born.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my passion!
